Celebration of "Counting down: 4 years to the Bicentennary of Bogor Botanic Gardens" 18 May 1817 - 18 May 2013 (196 years)

I took part in organizing this event as the event organizers with Winda UP, and  Izu AF, the Coordinator; appreciation to our former Director: Ir. Mustaid Siregar, MSi. The theme of celebration was Plants and People in Harmony.  It took 9 days,  18-26 May 2013 at Kebun Raya Bogor (Bogor Botanic Gardens).  Visitors enjoyed lots of attractions at the "Expo". Visitors experienced how they can save Indonesian plants and environment through the attractive entrance with a main feature of Bunga Bangkai Raksasa Amorphophallus titanum and visiting the booths of Center for Plant Conservation, Bogor Botanic Gardens - LIPI. As the corpse giant flower/titan arum is well known as a flagship of the plant world, an artist also made a replica of the flower of the used plastic bottles as part of recycling activities. Another conservation icon that attracted many visitors were the replica of Rafflesia arnoldii : 120 cm in diameter,  made by 13,362 seeds of Adenenthera pavonina, cassia grandis, Albizia sp, Mimusops elengi, and Quercus gemelliflora (thanks to the creative teams supervised by myself: Aulia HW, Harto and Mimin, staff of Seed Bank of Bogor Botanic Gardens).

Many visitors especially students had joined the interactive programs such as: Origami, medicinal plants and their usage, Story telling, Creations made of dried seeds, recycled wastes and more which were held in Pendopo (a type of traditional hut made of bamboos).
 

Visitors had also been entertained by shows: singing, dancing etc. which were also performed on the Pendopo as scheduled.

Visitors who love plants and gardening shopped various items from the booths of nurseries, gardening stores and other related commercials. Foods and drinks had completed the festivity.
