Dr Latifah examined the impact of
cyclonic disturbance on rainforest palm populations and their regeneration. She
found that responses varied, however germination, recruitment and growth of
several species were favoured by gaps created by cyclones. The results provide
valuable information for restoration of tropical rainforests following
disturbance.
